Credo
In due time, as the firmness in our voices dwindles, opportunities to express ourselves crumble with life’s impatient finitude.
I believe we’re meant to give ourselves to life by the hand of genuineness. That it’s in the pursuit of our most bare selves where our fragility does not only escort us to the doorstep of the soul, but finds true connection in another. Here is where the purity of our expression allows our humanities to interlace in harmony.
Should you see yourself in my writing (or see others), or feel your way through it (or even lack connection to it altogether) - what’s important to me, what I think is our fundamental human merit, is to be willing to share ourselves clothed in vulnerability before our remaining summers come to a dim.
Should we have the courage and fortune to dictate our legacies, have mine be the encouragement of my children to dance with the finiteness of life to the tune of the pursuit of their heart-driven dreams. Because what is life but a dream itself? Until I find otherwise, I shall keep writing.
Unconditional kindness is sewn into my threads by my mother's hand, and in walking my own path my father’s gallant resolution laces my steps. Two truths I hold close: my parents named me Juan Alberto, and this writing is no less integral to who I am than that very name.
